The eufy wired doorbell is designed to replace your home’s existing wired doorbell, but some doorbell systems can’t deliver enough voltage to the wired doorbell. Please confirm if the eufy wired doorbell is compatible with your existing wiring system. 

If You Already Have an Integrated Intercom Device 

Some advanced doorbell systems have a built-in intercom, gate control or a doorbell that’s located far from your home (such as an outside gate). If you have one of these, your doorbell probably isn’t eufy wired doorbell compatible, but you can contact an electrician.

Check the Existing Wires Voltage

Wired doorbell needs to be powered by wires delivering 16-24VAC, 30VA or above. A traditional doorbell button consumes very little power. But eufy Video Doorbell, which replaces your doorbell button, requires more power to keep the camera active. So you’ll need to check if your existing wires can deliver enough power for the wired doorbell to work. Here are possible ways.

1. Find your doorbell transformer’s voltage

If you can locate the existing doorbell transformer, you can check the marking on it. Some doorbell transformers might be overrated. The doorbell might work in a short time but is not stable. If you observe the symptoms below, please consider replacing the transformer. 

• The doorbell doesn’t respond at random.
• The doorbell is showing a red ring during the setup, indicating the power is disqualified.
• The doorbell is showing an amber ring during the setup or constantly, indicating it fails to boot up or keeps rebooting.
• The doorbell works fine during the day but is unstable at night.
• The doorbell works fine on motion detection but reboots itself when someone is pressing the doorbell.
• The App takes a long time to respond or start streaming when someone is ringing.

2. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage

This is the best way to test the voltage. Multimeters that can precisely measure voltage are relatively inexpensive. Please be careful when working with electricity. If you are not comfortable with electrical wiring, you can hire an electrician. 

3. Contact an electrician

Please contact the electrician for a quick decision about if the doorbell system is compatible with eufy wired doorbell. They can help to upgrade the wiring system and install the doorbell.
