Tips for Using Cross-Camera Tracking Function

In most cases, achieving good stitching results is straightforward. However, there are some scenarios that may probabilistically affect the accuracy of stitching.

1. Unsuitable Installation Angle

If the tilt angle of the camera is too large, it may not capture enough of a person's appearance for successful identification. Also, PTZ cameras have variable angles, and if the PTZ camera is at a large downward angle, it can cause stitching difficulties.

Tip: Adjust the position and angle of the camera. For installations less than 3m high, a pitch angle of less than 25 degrees is recommended.

2. Changes in Behavior During Human Activity

As people move, changes in their clothing or behavior may cause them to be identified as different individuals. For instance, a person transitioning from walking to cycling, or a person putting on a jacket while walking.

3. Image Blur

People may appear blurry in the image due to the camera being installed too high, people being too far from the camera, or the camera lens possibly fogging up in the morning.

4. Lighting Conditions

Black and white night vision videos are hard to track. Changes in lighting conditions, like moving from outdoors to indoors, or moving in and out of sunlight, can affect identification.

Tip: If convenient, add light in dark areas.

5. Camera Line of Sight Blocked

The camera's line of sight is blocked by obstacles.

Tip: Adjust the position and angle of the camera.

We have tried many rules to retrieve as many relevant videos as possible.

However, if you encounter these situations, try the following methods:

1) Adjust your camera. For example, try changing the viewing angle, changing the installation location, and adding light in the environment to assist at night.

2) Use the "Search" function on the tracking video player page to find missing segments.

3) Mark the problem on the tracking video player page and share the video with us for investigation and to improve results through future updates.

If you encounter any issues or have any questions about the Cross-Camera Tracking function, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for further assistance.
