Will eufy RoboVac run on dark floors?

eufy RoboVac may experience difficulties cleaning dark floors or dark-colored surfaces due to the location and the working mechanism of its drop sensors. Drop sensors are located on the bottom of the RoboVac to detect edges and prevent RoboVac from falling down the stairs during its cleaning cycle; additionally, drop sensors function based on infrared radiation (IR sensors) and these sensors are unable to reliably detect dark floors due to the fact that dark-colored surfaces absorb infrared signals, which lead to RoboVac triggering a drop sensor error and failing to continue its cleaning path.

Note: Similar to dark-colored surfaces, RoboVac may also encounter issues on reflective surfaces, such as when RoboVac signals bounce off of mirrors or direct sunlight beams bounce off of hard floors.

Are there any methods for eufy RoboVac to run on dark floors?

If you do not have any potential drop spots in your home, such as stairs, then an alternative method is to cover the RoboVac’s drop sensors with light-colored opaque tapes to disable the drop sensors. What is considered a dark floor or a dark-colored surface?

In order to be considered a dark-colored surface, whether it is a hard floor or carpeted floor, the color will need to be almost pitch-black. Please refer to the following images for examples of a pitch-black surface.
