eufy RoboVac is not suitable to run on black flooring or dark-colored carpet due to its drop sensors that are located on the bottom of the device. The working mechanism of RoboVac’s drop sensors is based on infrared radiation as these IR sensors detect potential drop spots to prevent RoboVac from falling down the stairs. IR sensors do not function well on dark flooring or carpet since infrared signals cannot be processed, and this is a common occurrence of all robotic vacuums currently on the market that implement IR sensors.
What Can I Do to Resolve This Issue?
If your eufy RoboVac model is able to detect boundary strips or has the ability to set No-go zones (virtual boundary) by using the eufy Clean app, then you can either place physical eufy boundary strips around dark flooring or set No-go zones in order for the RoboVac to avoid areas with dark-colored flooring or carpet.
