Proper installation of the radar is critical to ensure accurate motion detection and minimize false triggers. This guide outlines recommended practices, acceptable but suboptimal scenarios, and configurations to avoid.
Recommended Installation
For optimal performance, install the radar in a location with clear space on all sides:
-
Maintain at least 1 meter (3.3 feet) of open space above, below, left, and right of the radar.
-
Avoid placing the radar too close to obstacles or reflective surfaces.
Acceptable Installation (With Optimization Recommended)
Certain installation setups are functional but may require manual optimization in the eufy app to reduce false triggers.
Situation 1: L-Shaped Corner & Nearby Shrubs
-
Radar is installed less than 1 meter from a corner.
-
Presence of shrubs or foliage in the detection area.
Optimization Tips:
-
Use the app to block parts of the detection area that face the wall or shrubs.
Situation 2: Wall Opposite the Light Strip
-
A wall is directly facing the radar, increasing the chance of reflected signals.
Optimization Tip:
-
Reduce the detection distance in the app settings to minimize false triggers from reflections.
Not Recommended: Improper Installation
Do not install the radar in an L-shaped corner with less than 1 meter of clearance from the wall. This severely limits the radar’s field of view and may cause detection failures or frequent false triggers.
For best results, always follow recommended spacing and fine-tune detection settings in the eufy app based on your environment.
