If you are experiencing dimming or flickering with your Permanent Outdoor Lights S4, the following information will help identify and resolve the issue.
Causes of Dimming
The Permanent Outdoor Lights S4 is designed to automatically adjust brightness for optimal performance:
-
Automatic Brightness Adjustment: When the total length of connected light strips exceeds 150 feet, the system reduces brightness to 80% to maintain stable performance.
-
Voltage Drop on Longer Installations: As the number of connected light strips increases, especially at lengths far from the power adapter, voltage drop can occur. This is a result of the electrical resistance along extended runs.
Solution:
To stabilize voltage and ensure proper functionality, the Permanent Outdoor Lights S4 may lower the overall voltage output. This behavior is normal and helps protect the Permanent Outdoor Lights S4 from power-related issues.
Causes of Flickering
Flickering can result from several issues:
-
Excessive Use of Extension Cables
-
Cause: Using too many or overly long extension cables may lead to weak signal transmission.
-
Solution: Limit the use of extension cables to a maximum total length of 32 feet.
-
Loose or Poor Connections
-
Cause: Loose or improperly connected light strip segments may cause intermittent power or signal issues.
-
Solution: Disconnect the problematic light strip, then connect the controller directly to the strips before and after it. Test to identify if the issue persists with the remaining strips.
-
Damaged LED Segment
-
Cause: A malfunctioning LED or section may cause flickering in certain lighting effects.
-
Solution: Change the lighting effect in the eufy app or controller. If the flickering occurs only in one specific effect, it may be software-related. If the flickering is present across all effects, the issue may be hardware-related and could indicate a faulty LED section.
