The eufy HomeBase Professional S1 is the core hub device of the eufy ExpertSecure System E10 smart security system. As a professional-grade home security solution, it features a high-performance backup battery system that provides 24-hour uninterrupted backup power, ensuring that your home security system continues to operate even during power outages, achieving true round-the-clock protection.

 


 

Core Functions of the Backup Battery

24-Hour Emergency Power Guarantee

  • The standout feature of the HomeBase Professional S1 backup battery system is its ability to provide 24 hours of continuous power. When the main power source (AC adapter) fails, the system automatically switches to backup battery power seamlessly, ensuring security monitoring remains uninterrupted.

 

Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) Battery.

Under normal room-temperature conditions:

  • For 1,000 charge–discharge cycles (if there are 5 outages per month, that is 200 months), the battery can retain about ≥ 85% SoH (State of Health).

  • After 2,000 charge–discharge cycles (if there are 5 outages per month, that is 400 months) while maintaining approximately ≥ 80% SoH ( State of Health).

    • Battery Charging temperature: 32°F - 131°F (0°C - 55°C)

  • Humidity Requirements: Standard indoor humidity environment (<90% humidity)

  • Ventilation Needs: Recommend placement in a well-ventilated location to avoid overheating. The distance between the sides and back of the HomeBase and the wall should be greater than 10 centimeters to ensure proper heat dissipation.

  • Placement Selection: Keep away from heat sources, water sources, and strong magnetic fields

Performance Influencing Factors

Main factors affecting 24-hour runtime performance:

Device Load:

  • Number of connected cameras (each additional camera increases power consumption)

  • Number of sensors (entry, motion, smoke, etc.)

  • Other smart devices (doorbells, panels, etc.)

Activity Frequency:

  • Recording trigger frequency (frequent triggers increase power consumption)

  • AI detection computation load (facial recognition, object detection, etc.)

  • Alarm and notification push frequency

Environmental Conditions:

  • Ambient temperature (extreme temperatures affect battery performance)

  • Device heat dissipation

  • Battery aging level

 

Troubleshooting

Battery Runtime Significantly Reduced:

  1. Check if too many devices are connected

  2. Check if any device is triggering recordings frequently

  3. Check if AI features are being overused

  4. Check if 4G backup is being used frequently

  5. Confirm ambient temperature is appropriate

  6. Check 'Power Manager' in eufy App for battery health diagnosis

Backup Power Doesn't Activate During Outage:

  1. Check if battery is charged

  2. Confirm firmware version is up to date

  3. Try restarting HomeBase

Battery Charges Slowly:

FAQ

Q1: Is 24-hour runtime theoretical or actual?

  • A: 24 hours is the official rated backup power supply time. Actual runtime depends on the number of connected devices, activity frequency, and network usage. 

Reference Scenario: Under normal home usage scenarios: 4 wifi cameras, 1 Panic Button E10, 25°C room temperature), it can achieve close to 24 hours of runtime.

Q2: Can the backup battery be replaced separately?

A: The backup battery is built-in and does not support user replacement. If the battery experiences performance degradation or failure, contact eufy official after-sales service. Products under warranty are eligible for warranty service. support.expert@eufy.com

  • Q3: Do all functions work normally during a power outage?

  • A: The majority of the functions work. During power outages, HomeBase Professional S1 automatically switches to backup battery power, and all core functions continue operating, including video recording, AI detection, alarm notifications, local storage, etc. If the network is also interrupted, 4G cellular backup automatically takes over.

  • However, the Graphical User Interface(GUI), Hard Drive Storage, and Power Over Ethernet(POE) will stop working to conserve battery power.

GUI: The ability to visualize the user interface on a monitor screen via HomeBase Professional's HDMI port.

Hard Drive Storage: Recordings are stored on the hard drive. (In battery mode, the recordings will be stored in HomeBase's eMMC.)

POE:  The ability to provide power and internet sources to POE cameras via HomeBase Professional's POE port (i.e., Please refer to the compatibility sheet for POE cameras) 



Q4: How do I check backup battery status?

A: You can view the battery status and level of HomeBase Professional S1 in real-time through the eufy App. When the battery level is low, the app will send push notifications. Regularly checking battery health status is recommended.

Q5: Does the backup battery need periodic activation or maintenance?

A: No. The intelligent battery management system built into HomeBase Professional S1 automatically maintains battery status. Simply keep the device connected to the main power, and the system will automatically manage charging and discharging to maintain optimal battery performance.

Q6: How long does it take to switch to backup power after an outage?

A: The switching is automatic and instantaneous, with seamless delay. Users won't notice any interruption, and the system seamlessly transitions to backup power supply mode.

Q7: What are the advantages compared to external power supply (like HomeBase 2 &3)?
